Our Story – Roopa Hala


The concept of Roopa Hala, which means “Picture Hall” in the Sinhala Language was founded in 2024 with quest to show case the Sinhala cinema to the world. The initial impetus was to make use of the movie content collection owned by the Evoke Digital group and its founders, which was collected over a decade.

Our intention is to use, Roopa Hala to serve, as a cultural bridge, by preserving and promoting the heritage of Sri Lankan cinema to a global audience and a dedicated culturally appreciative viewership.

Roopa Hala provides a unique platform for Sri Lankan creators to showcase their films to a targeted, appreciative audience, by strengthening cultural ties and introducing and showcasing Sri Lanka’s Sinhala cinematic excellence to the world, now and in the future.
