Jeevani, a 23-year-old Tamil girl, works as a servant in Colombo to care for an elderly woman. She dreams of seeing movie star Dilhani Ekanayake in person. During a taxi ride, Madhava, a young driver, falls in love with Jeevani. Madhava, a university-educated Sinhala Buddhist, fled to Colombo to seek political asylum. He was caught transporting illegal drugs and sought Jeevani's help. Jeevani hides Madhava in a storage room, but drug dealers also seek Madhava.
