In a distant and poor Sinhalese village, a Buddha statue believed to have miraculous powers is stolen by a young man who visits the village regularly to find things of antique value. Consequent to the loss of the Buddha statue, the villagers fear that they would face a lot of hardships and suffer incurable diseases and much misfortune.The rest of the story revolves around young man, 'Dharme' who was brought up by the chief Buddhist monk in the temple, volunteers to go to the city and get the statue back.
